What’s Your Favorite Tasty Cake Recipe?

Cake is a fun and festive dessert that is perfect for celebration meals and everyday dinners. When you want to serve a cake that is fluffier, softer, and more flavorful, look beyond those that you can make from a box mix and canned frosting. Try out these tips to create the tastiest cake for you and your family today.

Helpful Tips for Cake Baking

If you are new to making cakes by hand, you need to keep some basic baking tips in mind. First, you need to mix your wet and dry ingredients together separately rather than combine them all in the same mixing bowl. Mixing them together separately and then combining the dry and wet ingredient mixtures together slowly will ensure a lighter, softer, and moister cake.

Second, avoid over mixing the batter. The more you work the batter, the tougher it gets. You over work the gluten in the flour, which will lead to a dryer and tougher cake.

Finally, if you do not have plenty of eggs on hand for your recipe, use these easy egg substitutes:

  • Silken tofu
  • Buttermilk
  • Condensed sweetened milk
  • Buttermilk
  • Applesauce
  • Mashed banana

You can also use flax seed that has been mixed with water.

  • 12 ounce can of evaporated milk
  • 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ cup of whole milk
  • 1 ½ cup of heavy whipping cream

Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk the egg whites using a hand or stand mixer until light and foamy and then add ¼ cup of sugar until the white’s foam stiff peaks. In another bowl, mix the egg yolks with the remaining sugar until the yolks are pale in color.

Add the vanilla and 1/3 cup of milk. Add the dry ingredients until blended well. Fold in the egg whites and pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake at 350 degrees.

Combine the condensed, evaporated and ¼ cup of whole milk. Use a toothpick to poke holes in the cooled cake and pour the milk mixture over it. Chill in the fridge for several hours to allow the cake to absorb the milk. Top with whipped heavy mixing cream and dust with cinnamon.
